COFFMAN GARDEN PLOTS: Contact Dottie Waltz with questions
Gardeners have tenure on their plot as long as they personally use and maintain it through the growing season. Gardeners are expected to keep their plot weeded and cultivated throughout the growing season, and in addition the grass sod around the plot should be kept as clear of weeds as possible. Beyond the basic box, gardeners are responsible to building and maintaining any additional height or screening. All screening should be well supported and remain inside the edges of the box so as not to be a hazard to passers-by. Anyone deemed not in compliance with these guidelines by a majority of the Garden Committee members and the approval of the Board of Directors will receive a written reminder, and after three such reminders in a year, will not be eligible for a plot the next year. Reminders will be delivered as maintenance problems are observed. All gardeners are encouraged to support and assist other gardeners in maintaining their plot, as needed and as they are able. Creating an environmentally healthy garden plot provides a habitat that is beneficial to plant pollinators. We need native insects, birds, and other wild creatures to survive in order to pollinate our plants. Try to choose seeds and bedding plants that have not been pretreated with systemic pesticides that may prove harmful to our pollinators. During cleanup of the garden plots all discarded non-vegetative trash must be placed in the trash cans on the edge of the garden plots. No longer needed, but useable stakes, wire, etc. should be placed behind the garden shed for evaluation by the Garden Committee. Usable items will be moved to the East Cage in the garage for reuse by all Coffman gardeners. All garden residue not worked into the soil of the plots is to be put in the composting containers. Fall garden cleanup should be completed by November 1, except for late-ripening/flowering or perennial plants. Water shut off and turning off after watering Tools and supplies in the East Cage only those marked for general use No personal tools to be stored in the shed
