Advantages and disadvantages of powder- coated cast aluminum: It Is one of the two materials that are approved for our outdoor furniture needs. It meets all the criteria for sustainability that we have laid out. It is strong, long lasting (20-30 years), solid (won’t blow over); the powder-coated surface is durable and easy to clean according to Caroline.
The only hesitation (not exactly a disadvantage) is that there seem to be few examples of simplified, more modern design. Most are traditional, with greater or lesser degrees of ornateness. That is not necessarily a negative—we just have to decide what we want. I. Modern design: these pieces are aluminum. some of the modern pieces come in steel, not cast aluminum, but i’m including them to show the design. Room and board is a good store; carries only products made in USA. this table is too small and I guess only comes in white, but elegant design. one in black—rectangular. Don’t really like these chairs, but I’m including this picture because of the background— note windows! shows versatility of wrought iron, how modern and traditional designs can blend. II. Traditional. Most of cast iron style furniture is traditional, coming in a wide range of more or less ornate styles. Traditional cast aluminum seems generally sturdier, heavier. Colors trending away from black this Spring. This item is bronze, not black. some others: Cayman 7 piece Macy’s cast aluminum is very durable—we had it in our home patio.
