1666 Coffman is an active, 55+ independent-living community of past and present University of Minnesota employees. We are professionally managed and owner-led. Our classic Palladian-style condominium sits on 6.5 acres of University land near the St. Paul campus. Built in 1986, it comprises 92 resident-owned units, a gracious dining room and conservatory, a stunning two-story library, and many other amenities. Nestled in the midst of the metro area, we are surrounded by natural areas—woods, individual garden plots, wildflower gardens, and a city park.
Vision
We envision 1666 Coffman as a welcoming, diverse, sustainable community that embraces its unique history and culture while adapting to ongoing change.

Approved by the Board on January 26, 2021, this statement:
clarifies to ourselves and the outer world just what our community is and intends to be
is a tool for attracting new residents who connect with the community identity we express
provides long-term guidance to the Board, committees, and individual residents when we face important decisions.
An exciting time lies ahead as the community takes ownership of this new mission, vision, and values. Together we can plant it deeply into the soil of our community and tend it to fruition.
