Just watched a Swedish film, Britt-Marie Was Here based on a book by Fredrik Backman. Unfortunately, the subtitles were almost illegible. I got the general idea but knew I had missed the subtleties. To my delight I located and borrowed a copy of the book’s English translation from the Coffman Library.
Along with this book, four other Backman books were on the shelves including A Man Called Ove. If you’ve seen Tom Hanks’ recent film, A Man Named Otto, you already know it was based on Backman’s book, originally published in Swedish in 2012. A highly regarded Swedish film followed in 2015. I recommend the book and both films.
