"The Seed Keeper" Revisited

In The Seed Keeper,  author Diane Wilson pulls together many of the concerns of the American Indian today.  Save our water, save our plants, save our land.  She has insinuated the failings of white America (and particularly Minnesota) into a fictional family genealogy, focusing on the life of Rosalie Iron Wing, with a few chapters
told by earlier, related women who deepen Rosalie’s background for us. The author says “this book was crafted as a blend of fiction and history, with imagined characters, incidents, and dialogue superimposed on a layer of real-life events.”  A gripping story brings Dakhota tragedies alive for us, and points to a nebulous future for our land.

Where do seeds fit in?  Seeds, and particularly Dakhota corn seeds, and the need to preserve them for future generations, are at the heart of every story.
